Brinley Gold Shipwreck Rum

Located on the beautiful island of Saint Kitts in the eastern Caribbean, Brinley Gold Shipwreck Rum is a family-owned company that aims to produce the most delicious flavored rums in the world. The base rum is purchased from Guyana and then blended with top quality ingredients in small batches and bottled at their quaint facility on Saint Kitts. A small team of employees places plastic corks on the bottles, monitors the labeling machine, and then packs the finished bottles into cases to be shipped.

This is a private facility but tours can arranged with advance notice. After exploring the laboratory, blending area, and assembly line, visitors are invited to sample each flavor of rum (and sometimes their delectable rum cake). The Spiced rum is made from a four year aged rum with natural vanilla, clove, orange, and nutmeg flavors. The other four flavored rums - Mango, Coconut, Vanilla, and Coffee - are also made with natural ingredients which provide a more genuine, sophisticated taste far superior to mainstream flavored rums. Each flavor is bottled at 36% alcohol by volume (72 proof).

The newest addition to the Brinley Gold Shipwreck collection is the Coconut Rum Cream (15% ABV/30 proof), which is a rich blend of their base rum, authentic coconut flavor, and real dairy cream with notes of cardamom and nutmeg.

Saint Kitts Scenic Railway

Blue Water Safaris Catamaran Tour

Built in the early 1900's, the Saint Kitts Scenic Railway began as the primary method to transport sugarcane across the island from the plantations to the factory. Today, modern double-decker train cars take visitors on an 18 mile, two hour scenic tour of the pristine north-eastern coastline. The lower deck is air conditioned and has plenty of tables and chairs along with a restroom. But the best way to enjoy this unique experience is on the open-air top deck, which has unobstructed 360 degree views of mountains, valleys, beaches, and small towns. The three ladies of the Saint Kitts Railway Choir treat guests to a cappella versions of folk songs several times during the trip, and complementary drinks (including a tasty rum punch) are served by friendly attendants. This railway tour can be complemented with either a 12 mile, 45 minute narrated bus tour or a relaxing catamaran ride to complete the trip around the island.

Blue Water Safaris Catamaran Tour

One of the most relaxing ways to see the beautiful coastline and waters of Saint Kitts is on a catamaran sailing tour. Blue Water Safaris offers various tours such as a sail and snorkel trip, a day trip to sister island Nevis, and a scenic sailing trip which can be combined with the Saint Kitts Scenic Railway tour in a package called Rail & Sail. This two hour voyage along the southern coast of the island aboard the 53 foot sailing catamaran 'Swaliga' offers spectacular views of Mount Liamuiga, the extinct volcano near the center of the island. The boat has spacious decks, a sunning trampoline, and restrooms. Light snacks, soft drinks, water, and endless rum punch are served on board by the energetic crew.
